Preview, save and restore app designs
Understand editor drafts, live configuration and version history, and restore the intended configuration safely.
The interactive preview helps you inspect the current editor state. It is not a phone emulator, a store submission or proof that shoppers already have that configuration.
Move from editing to the app
- Make changes in the owning editor and use its preview. Check narrow and wide layouts where available and try the intended links.
- Resolve validation messages and Save. Reload the editor to confirm the saved configuration, rather than relying on the unsaved preview.
- Check your workspace's publication state. In an ordinary live workspace, saved compatible configuration reaches the app after refresh. In a private preview/publication workspace, Save updates the draft; publish the reviewed candidate through the provided workflow.
- Check an installed app after the appropriate refresh. Saved design changes, downloaded app updates and new App Store or Google Play versions reach shoppers in different ways. See publishing.
Replaying a preview does not reset phone permissions, sign-in, cart contents or consent. Device selectors show layout approximations; test native gestures, sharing and notifications on a real installation.
Restore an earlier configuration
Open the editor's version history and use View history for to select the intended configuration, such as Homepage, Menu, Branding or a specific page. History restores that configuration, not the entire store.
Choose Restore beside the required version. Read the change summary and content preview before selecting Restore this revision. A successful restore creates a new current revision, preserving the intervening history. It is still subject to current validation and the workspace's publication rules.
Do not assume every editor or provider record has the same history support. This action does not restore Shopify inventory, prices, orders, customers, media files or an older installed app version. If a saved layout references a deleted product, restoring its layout cannot recreate that product.
If changes appear missing
Check the store, selected character/configuration, save result and live-versus-private state. Then refresh the app and verify the relevant template assignment. If history or Save reports a conflict, reload and compare before overwriting another editor's work. Keep the error and affected configuration name when contacting support.
