Prepare clear images, videos and useful links

Choose suitable artwork, avoid blurry or cropped content and give every shopper-facing button a working destination.

Use the media and destination pickers in each editor. Homepage artwork, product media, app icons and fonts have different owners; replacing one does not necessarily replace the others.

Choose artwork for its placement

  • Use an original, sharp image large enough for its intended display. Enlarging a thumbnail does not restore detail. Keep an original copy outside the editor.
  • Match the image's shape to the selected layout. A wide banner and a tall product card crop differently. Preview both narrow and wide screens, with the important subject away from cropped edges.
  • Keep essential instructions and prices in editable text where possible. Tiny text embedded in artwork can become unreadable and will not automatically change with a product price.
  • Supply an Image description or equivalent accessibility field where offered. Describe the image's purpose rather than repeating a filename.
  • For product photos, edit the product media in Shopify. A section's custom campaign image is a separate choice.

Follow the current upload validation instead of relying on a universal file-size limit. Most merchant media uses Shopify Files; app icons and custom fonts have dedicated upload controls. Only upload material you have permission to publish, and never use a public media uploader for private customer documents.

Prepare playable video

Wait for processing to finish and inspect any error before publishing. Check the actual Frame, poster image, sound and captions in the relevant video or Clips editor. A static poster does not prove the video is ready. Test playback on a phone and after leaving and returning to the app. See Clips for captions and timed product tags.

Give buttons a destination

Use the supported product, collection, page or external-link picker. A custom page needs a link from somewhere shoppers can reach. Test each destination and the return path; external links may open the browser rather than an in-app page.

For contact links, use a real support page, email or phone number. For sharing into the installed app, use shared app links; pasting any website address does not automatically make it an app link.

If artwork looks wrong

Check the selected source and crop before uploading again. Save, reload the editor and check the current app. If a sharp source stays blurry or an image never finishes loading, report the product or section, device and screenshot to support using the troubleshooting guide.
