Configure Search and Discover
Set search suggestions, browse content and Discover modules, and check empty and personalised results.
Search has two configuration areas. App builder > Search arranges Discover content. Components > Search controls the search field, suggestions and content shown before a query. Make Search reachable through Navigation.
Configure the search experience
- In Components > Search, set Placeholder and the controls under While shoppers type. Choose whether matching collections and suggested searches appear.
- Under Before shoppers type, choose recent searches and recently viewed content. Recent search history belongs to that phone; hiding recently viewed content does not erase its history.
- Enter Popular searches yourself. This is a curated list, not an automatically imported Shopify trending report.
- Configure Browse list. If using a custom Shopify menu, enter its Menu handle. Check that its destinations and collections exist and are available to the app.
- Save and test both an empty search field and a typed query.
Collection product counts describe the collection, not guaranteed stock for the shopper's market. Related recommendations need relevant browsing history; a new shopper may see less content.
Arrange Discover
In App builder > Search, turn on Show Discover in the search tab to use its modules. Enable the wanted modules and reorder them with the arrows. Configure Tiles, Trending chips and the available personal row. With Discover off, the search tab uses its recent-search and browse experience instead.
Modules need their underlying content. Shoppable clips must be published and ready. A size-based row needs Shopper profile, matching product options and the available size-filter support. Do not add empty modules just to fill the editor preview.
Verify with real searches
Try a known product, a collection, a misspelling and a query with no results. Change country and check availability. If size filtering is missing, check Shopify's Search & Discovery filters and the exact product option names. Preview samples and manually entered chips do not prove the catalogue search is configured correctly.
