Send a push campaign
Create and send a broadcast push to your app subscribers from the Notifications page, choose where it opens, and personalize it for each shopper.
Campaigns are one-off broadcast pushes you send to your app subscribers, for a sale, a drop, or a back-in-stock nudge. They are sent through OneSignal, so there is nothing extra to pay for.
Before you start
You need OneSignal connected with a REST API Key saved (see Connect OneSignal). Until then the Notifications page shows Connect OneSignal to send push instead of the composer. Campaigns reach shoppers once your OneSignal-enabled app build is live.
Create a campaign
- Open Notifications and choose New campaign.
- Write a Title and Message. These are what the shopper sees on the lock screen.
- Add an optional image.
- Under When tapped, open, choose where the push takes the shopper: the home screen, the cart, search, or a specific collection, product or page.
- Choose the audience: All subscribers, or a named segment from your OneSignal dashboard.
- Send now, or schedule it for later.
A preview shows roughly how the push will look before you send. Sending is final, so you confirm before it goes out.
Personalize the copy
You can drop the shopper's name into the title or message with OneSignal's placeholder syntax, for example {{ first_name | default: 'there' }}. OneSignal fills in each shopper's name when the push sends, and falls back to the default when it does not know it. (Source: OneSignal Liquid syntax.)
On OneSignal's free plan the two name fields (first and last name) are the personalization available; richer per-shopper data needs a paid OneSignal plan.
Who receives it
A push reaches a shopper only if they installed your published app and allowed notifications. New shoppers are asked for permission after onboarding; a shopper who declined will not receive campaigns. If a send reports no recipients, it usually means your OneSignal-enabled build is not live yet, or no one has opted in.
